Reports indicate that Sanna Ejaz, a prominent Pashtun journalist and PTM member has been threaten with death by unidentified entities or individuals.
Threat against Ejaz comes only a week after the assassination of another Pashtun female political adviser and former TV journalist Mina Mangal. Mangal was gunned down in broad daylight in Kabul and the assailants have not yet been apprehended by law enforcement.
Members of PTM movement, Pashtun activists in Pakistan, and members of Pashtun diaspora communities have forcefully reacted to such bullying by the dark forces that are intimidating Pashtun intellectuals and activists.
“Pashtun Council Canada strongly condemns the death threats to #SannaEjaz, the symbol of resistance and senior #PTM (Pashtun Tahafuz Movement) activist by unknown individuals or entities”, said Professor Siraj Khan, Pashtun Council Canada president.
“We ask the state of Pakistan and her security agencies to make sure her (Ejaz’s) safety and bring to book those threatening her. In case of any eventuality the state of Pakistan will be held responsible,” added Khan.
In May 2018, the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) fired Sanna Ejaz for being an active member of PTM.
“Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) has removed me from my work and the only reason is #PashtunTahafuzmovement, said Ejaz at the time.
It should be known that Pashtun and Baluch activists in Pakistan are under constant threat and many have been killed by unknown assailants.
